More Information The first incarnation of Know Your Roots was unfortunately cancelled due to a double-booking, so we're back, and we're running with a June lineup of awesomeness.
Our lineup includes former Northcote local, Kenny Joe Blake, returning to his home pastures to showcase his many years of songwriting experience. With his name etched into folklore with great folk/country acts like Terra Australis, Kenny Joe Blake brings a distinctly Australian experience. Armed with just an acoustic guitar and a storyteller's voice.
Folk/Rock act Filthy Soup come up next showcasing their array of soft, love-driven ballads, along with songs that question the world around us, leaving the interpretation up to the listener. Fresh from the studio, the boys are set to impress and portray the songs that have made them a sought-after property on any folk set.
Bridget Pross is in the process of recording her second independently-released studio album. The first single from that album is set for release later this year, and she is bringing forward her soft-toned, precious voice and her folk-driven pop songs to Know Your Roots this June. Inviting you forward with her polite demenour, Bridget takes you on a rollercoaster ride through love, passion, family ties and the landscapes of her homeland of Tasmania.
Guesswork are a mainstay on the roots scene, mixing a blend of folk, country, rock and blues (basically, what Know Your Roots is all about!). Fronted by the powerful vocals of Juvita, Guesswork don't just offer a gig, it's more of a listening experience! After a wealth of big headline gigs around town, it's only just that they be invited to be apart of history with the first Know Your Roots event.
*NOTE:* As originally billed, Courtney Barnett is now unable to fulfil her performance due to work commitments. |
